We are committed to the principles of eco-sustainability – an important element in the Aramark company policy. Sustainability is much more than a passing fad. It is an on-going development – something we very much welcome. At the same time, it involves a genuine commitment to continuous innovation.
Aramark started systematically practising eco-sustainability in the 1990s. Our activities range from waste management and recycling programmes, to using fair trade coffee, MSC-certified fish and organic products.
Our commitment to sustainability in commercial fishing and fish farming
Fish are a limited resource that needs to be protected to ensure conservation. With this in mind, we have worked closely with universities and other experts to develop special fish procurement guidelines based on the latest scientific findings. These guidelines are compulsory for our suppliers. This makes Aramark a pioneer in the industry.
Another milestone in our commitment to eco-sustainability: Aramark is the first and only enterprise in the German catering industry to operate carbon-neutral company restaurants. Aramark actions are supported by an independent sustainability advisory board with representatives from the research, political and business communities.
We have received numerous awards for our sustainability programmes. In the competition for the German Sustainability Award 2011, Aramark ranked among the top three in the category “Germany’s Most Sustainable Company”.
